Frequently Asked Questions:

No beating around the bush.
No fine print.
If there’s a question, there’s an answer.

Yes—and it's not just for looks. Most so-called "cassava" litters are made from extracted cassava starch: the root is grated and washed, the starch is pulled out for clumping, and the fibrous rest is discarded.
You get a uniform, almost artificial texture—a litter that clumps, but throws away everything else the root has to offer.
Yucaloo uses the whole cassava root, not just the starch. You still get firm, scoopable clumps—but keeping the natural fiber and pulp means more liquid absorbed and better odor control, instead of tossing
the part of the root that does that work. Using the whole root also means less waste from every harvest.
That's why you see specks of peel, real fibers, and an irregular texture. That isn't an imperfection—it's proof you're getting the whole root, and everything it can do.

Yes—and we tested it. Over 30 days with one cat (about 50 ml of urine a day), it took 4.3 kg of corn-and-cassava litter to keep up, but only 3.0 kg of Yucaloo. Same cat, same mess, about 30% less litter used.
That, plus a bigger bag, adds up fast. Yucaloo comes in a 4.5 kg bag while most litters in this category give you 4 kg. So one bag of Yucaloo lasts roughly 45 days, versus about 28 days for a typical bag—closer to 8 bags a year instead of 13.
You start with more and use less of it.

Yes! Cats spend real time in the box, digging and stepping, then groom themselves right after. So what the litter is made of, and what it isn't made of, both matter.
Yucaloo is made from cassava with no dyes, no synthetic fragrances, and no artificial clumping chemicals. That's a meaningful difference from conventional clay litters:

No clay dust. Clumping clay releases fine silica dust that both cats and their humans breathe in. Yucaloo is low-dust and plant-based, which is gentler on sensitive airways.
No swelling clumps in the gut. Clay clumps can expand if swallowed. Yucaloo has none of that chemistry.
Nothing harsh on sensitive paws. No dyes, fragrances, or synthetic binders for your cat to pick up and lick off while grooming.

Yucaloo is designed so the time your cat spends in the box isn't time you have to worry about.

Absolutely! Just reach for the Small Grain formula. It clumps nice and firm, so the clumps hold their shape when the box cycles—instead of crumbling and gumming up the mechanism.
Prefer to keep tracking to a minimum? The Mixed Grain formula is your best bet there, with two grain sizes designed to cut down on scatter. But for automatic boxes, Small Grain is the way to go.

Cats hate change, but a gradual transition almost always works. We recommend this method: place a layer of Yucaloo in the clean litter box and put the current litter on top. Let your cat mix the two naturally as they use the box. With each change, increase the proportion of Yucaloo until it has completely replaced the old litter.

On average, cats accept it after five days. Some accept it as early as the first day, especially since the litter has no artificial fragrance — a common cause of rejection.

Yes. The litter itself is 100% organic and decomposes naturally, as it is made from cassava root. The packaging is, too: we use P-Life technology, which allows the plastic to degrade within 3 to 4 years without leaving behind microplastics.

For disposal of used litter: use regular household trash. Using a suitable scoop, remove only the soiled portions during daily cleaning.

Do not flush it down the toilet.
